Shadow of Venus

I've read many times about how Venus is capable of casting a shadow on the earth. I've never met anybody who seen this. Have any of you seen this?

Pete Lawrence (Starman) did a great demonstration on video of venus casting a shadow. I'm sure it will still be available to see.

Conditions do need to be exceptionally good - Venus needs to be near elongation, well north of the Sun and you need transparent air, a dark location and good dark adaptation.

The shadow is not easy to see but you should be able to discern it if you hold your hand in front of a white screen.

I read an article once about a man that did a whole project on proving the existence of the Venus shadow (photographically). but for the life of me cant remember his name. Worth googling I reckon.

Thanks for your replies (and the link Ron). It seems that a few have managed it then, although excellent conditions are clearly needed.
