Running away from Orion

Its that time of the year again, it wouldn't be the same without posting an M42. Im trying to get the trapezium perfect so Im doing a combine eventually. Ive done 50 x 30sec, 50 x 60sec 50 x 120sec but not combined them yet.

This image was taken on the 16th December 2010 50 x 120sec with dark, flats and bias applied.

Stacked in DSS and processed in CS3.

Taken with my modified Canon 1000D on the ED80, guiding is not perfect by any means as I have a mount issue at the moment.

Anyhow here's the image, but not finished yet

That is a beautiful shot and I don't know which one I prefer. Visually stunning. Is this the normal rotation for the Orion Nebula? Interested as to what the more traditional rotation would be.

I always image North up, unless of course the target wont fit in the FOV.

In this image isn't north to the left? Not that it matters. This is coming along really well. Maybe push the blues a bit?

A very nice image George , although I think the gradient looks more like the flats have over corrected the image.

I think your right Kevin, I just checked and I used the wrong flats

Plus this monitor is not calibrated (I usually use the obsy one) and looking at the image now the vignetting is horrible
