This was ment to be the Elephants Trunk - grabbed last evening before the moon got to high...but I missed LOL...still, a project for a panorama some time..

RGB 10 x 5 mins each channel

Ha 10 x 10 mins

Skywatcher ED100 and QHY9 + Nebulosity 2

Guided with ST80,QHY5 and PHD

Your not wrong there. Two gas bubbles and a lovely example of dark nebula for starters.

Tell me about it this is at f7.6 ish....With polar aligning the mount the other night I forgot it was going to put the GOTO's out a bit.

Just missed the main event BUT look at what you did get, nebulosity, dark nebulosity and a good mix of stars too! The secret to this is to take some 6 to 10 second test exposures and move the telescope a fraction until you get the trunk into view but as you have shown, this is an amazing area of interest despite the wonderful trunk nearby.
