Focal reducer for mak

Recommended Posts

Is there a focal reducer which would fit an omc 200 mak which would give me lower power and wider fov? It's an f20 scope. I use a 2" back on it and would just want it for visual use

Cheers

I'm finding the following calculator useful...

Focal Reducer Calculator

Then, it's just a case of finding suitable adaptors. With smaller (photographic) chips, it's not too difficult. Visual use, may be a different story tho'. But, if you have a 2" back, it is well worth TRYING out 2" diagonals and wide-angle 2" eyepieces. Re. vignetting, "Practice" often works, where "theory" says it won't! Aside: I do wish manufacturers would provide information on reducer focal lengths, threads sizes etc. though. :)

Thanks Macavity, useful info. I think your last point is key to what confuses me. Many focal reducers day they have a thread to fit SCT's so I don't know what is needed to get them fitted to, my mak. It just has a standard 2" back which takes a diagonal
