FraserClarke
Close-up of the central regions of M42, with the trapezium. HST palette with OIII (5 min), H-alpha (8 min) and SII (8 min). Image quality is about 1.6" FWHM, with 0.77" pixels. Data taken with a 20-inch RCOS scope I'm currently commissioning -- nice bit of kit now it's working well The colour processing is not very advanced at all -- I'm afraid I just made it in ds9, because I don't really know any better (other than knowing there *are* better ways!). Little bit of a pull in gimp to bring out the foreground dust clouds.
ollypenrice
Cor! Now then, before you leave this comission get a nice RGB of the area and I'll give you a nice M42 widefield just itching for some real Trapezium resolution. A quick Registar and we're off!!Olly

MartinB
Cracking trapezium stars. What do you mean when you say you are "commissioning" the RCOS. Sounds intriguing
FraserClarke
What do you mean when you say you are "commissioning" the RCOS. Sounds intriguingMaking it work properly before we start using it for science projects. Ironing out all the little bugs etc. Quite fun really, though it seems to involve a lot of swearing
