What is a v filter?

V is a properly defined photometric filter centred about 550nm
Actually V defines the spectral response of the filter / sensor combination.
For pretty pictures, it'll do the same job as G
But you will need a much longer exposure - photometric filter sets are designed for accuracy, not transmission.
