Webcam nose piece.

Hi there, I have a philips spc 880nc webcam that i intend to use with my 2 scopes, one a lxd 75 10inc s. newt and the other a cpc800.

What length of webcam converter nose piece do I need, or will any length be ok, short,medium or standard?

With the CPC you may also benefit from a webcam reducer - celestron do one for the Neximage camera:

But it would probably need some sort of thread modification to fit your camera.

You will need the same long reach nose piece as the SPC900 Toucam

Thanks for the advise brantuk and Peter, what is the difference between the reducer and a barlow lense, are they the same thing.

I have a 2 x and 5x barlow.

The barlows magnify the image - so you'll get 2x and 5x. E.g. if you used a 16mm ep and a 2x barlow it effectively becomes an 8mm ep.

A reducer on the other hand widens the image enabling you to get nice wide shots of the moon (or sun with appropriate sun filter). #

Now I think of it though - the Neximage has the same chip as the SPC900 - don't think it's the same as the 880 chip - so double check that before comitting cash. Barlows will be fine
