What to put on AZ3 mount?

Hi

I just picked up an AZ3 mount. It was free so I couldn't resist.

So what can I put on this?

I'm presently reading about refractors (yes I can't make my mind about anything) for lunar and planetary observation but how large can you go with this mount?

Or is it just a waste of time and effort?

I had an ED100 on mine, it made a great grab and go setup but I think that was VERY close the limit of the mount.

ED100 is that the skywatcher f9 thing?

Yep, thats the one. It was right at the limit of the mount but if you want a lunar/ planetary setup then that or something like a 80-90mm f10 refractor would be worth looking at IMHO.

I've had a 5" Celestron schmidt-cassegrain on an AZ-3 and it worked pretty well - the mount works best with short tube scopes.
