Another afocal Moon!

There are a lot of afocal Moon shots kicking around at the moment, one of which is my Appenines shot from 'International Observe the Moon night'. I just remembered that I have another video taken that night, and here is the result - the cratered regions around Clavius:

Thankyou very much - I know what you mean - my first images were less than fantastic, and I was really annoyed having wasted a whole night grappling with my camera. I told myself not to give up, and I also bought a new camera and a bracket to hold it against the eyepiece. This was better, but still not great, until I discovered how planetary imaging cameras work. Basically, they take a film at certain frame rates to get an AVI file, which can be processed by Registax. I tried this with my camera, and got photos like these.

So, basically, make sure that you can take a video file of your target (a bracket for the camera is very useful) and follow this tutorial for Registax to process it, and you're away!

The Afocal methd is a good way to get detailed images, and you have a nice one here. The Straight Wall is standing out well.
