PHD-no camera

Hi All,

Now the OAG is sorted I am venturing into the murky waters of PHD guiding:p. Just a quick question....What do you do if the guide cam you're using isn't in the list? I'm using my watec. When I clicked 'simulator', I got an image on he screen, however I'm not sure if this is ok for guiding purposes? Any ideas:icon_scratch:

Have you tried any of the other cameras in the list to see if it will work...near the bottom of the list - windows type cameras.

Simulator wont work - its just a picture.

Doesn't the Watec just give video Out? if it does then you will have to use it with a video input/capture device ?

Yes it does and I do:). The capture device doesn't seem to appear on the list though:icon_scratch:

In the camera selection there I one for wdm which picks up web cams.

It will likely be either WDM (most likely) or VFW...

Hi Peter,

Just tried both of those options......Got a drop down list of varieties 640x480 YUY etc tried all of them. Didn't work:icon_scratch:...VFW gave the option of the capture device but when selected that didn't work either:(....The camera was working as I managed to get an image on screen using 'Amcap' software.

Any ideas...HELP!....Is there any other guiding software that's easy to use instead?

When you selected the 'VFW' did you then click the Loop icon in PHD?

Is there an ascom driver for the Watec? As PHD will use Ascom compliant cameras, that's how my QHY5 works.
