RGB Narrowband from H-Alpha,OIII and Luminance?

Recommended Posts

I have an Ha, OIII, SII and a CLS CCD filter I was going to use for the luminance channel. But I wondered if I needed to bother with the SII at all - will it bring out more detail on most DSO's?

Can I get my RGB colours by using Ha, OII and just luminance?

Thanks

Daniel

It makes a lot of sense to skip the SII given our limited imaging time. As Craig says you can use the Ha and OIII to create a synthetic green. Alternatively (given that OIII is a teal colour) you can leave the Ha as red and use OIII for both blue and green. This works very well on some targets and can give very natural looking colour. Noel's photoshop tools automates the process of using Ha and OIII to creat a synthetic green.

You can then double up the Ha for luminence.
