HOLY COW : CCD Imaging = Shorter Exposures

I am so used to exposing on a DSLR for 5 - 10 mins at a sub time.

But with the QHY9 my subs are 2 mins or less for LRGB components .......

If I go further than 2 mins the image is well over exposed.

I used to use ISO 800 with the 1000D for 5 - 10 mins at a time...

Is this right ????

Offset is 120 and gain is 10

Not sure about offset and gain mate tbh. All the ccd i`ve ever used have had all that inbuilt in the electronics. Go as long as your guiding will allow. I regularly use 15 min subs with my Borg.....

What setting have you got your "screen stretch" set to in Maxim?

Maxim is new to me, 1st time i have used it tonight, so set at the default.

Such a steep learning curve..... LOVIN IT :D

Another edit....... WOW that makes a huge difference..... Thanks Mate :) :) ;)

The pixel pitch is very similar (1000D: 5.7μm, QHY9: 5.4μm), the full well must also be similar (QHY9: 25,500, 1000D: 30,000?) so I guess you are seeing mostly the effect of the Bayer matrix and the higher "Quantum Efficiency" of the QHY9.
