Projection

Just had a go at projection with my 15x70 bins. Closed one eyepiece off and used the other in conjunction with the central focusser. Got a nice round, crisp, distinct ball of white. My question is are sunspots unmistakable or are they quite subtle with the projection method? Think i saw one or two quite dim spots down to the south western edge of the sun for a minute or so, or it could be my eyes...Seroiously enjoying solar observing though! :)

Not sure that you'll of seen much today.

Have a look here Sunspots for a "live" image of the sun.

Always good to compare what you get to what's there.

I enjoyed solar observing, don't seem to get a chance nowadays.

I've done similar to you with my 16x50 binos. What ive found is that many of the small spots recently have not shown up this way because they are too small. I have seen larger spots in the past though this way - I would say that they are quite obvious on the projection
