Earth like planets

I can't even remember the name of that galaxy with the most Earth like planetary body is I think it's the nearest Earth like planet could anyone please tell me

Don't know what the name given to the planet would be, but I'm pretty sure that they believe an Earth like planet may exist around one of our nearest stars, Alpha Centuri. This is of course within our own Galaxy. I wouldn't think it's possible to detect planets of any kind outside of our Galaxy yet, given the distance involved.

If we find any other earth like planets it will be in the Milky Way other galaxies are too far away.

There have been two, possibly several, very tentative discoveries of extragalactic exoplanets.

The second one covered in more depth here on the Centauri Dreams blog: A Planetary Detection in Andromeda? - towards the end, but read the whole article.

A quick Google for "extragalactic exoplanet" brings up plenty of results for the Andromeda find that was announced last June.

What nobody's posted the PlanetQuest URL yet?

Also, the closest discovered planet to being "earth-like" is Gliese 581 d. It's small enough to be rocky and supposedly is in the habitable zone of it's star system.

Edit: Correction, not necessarily rocky but liquid water is possible.
