Philips PCVC820K/00

Good evening folk.

I have come in posession of a Philips PCVC820K/00 ToUcam II webcam.I have loaded it onto my Laptop which runs Vista and it works fairly well.The massive question is can i us it for astro work.I need a adaptor and thats not a problem but will it work or is it not fancy enough and only the ToUcam II Pro will do it. Don`t worry if i cannot use it as it was only a thought.

If you look at this site Webcameras you will see a comment for the older 720K Toucam. On the second page of the site there is an entry for the newer 820K. Both are basically the same and the comments for the 720K apply for the 820K.

Hey I think that the PCVC820K/00 is Toucam fun camera, which if is the case then the resolution is only 352 x 268 (or something like that) and it is not sensitive enough for astro use due to a different CCD chip on it. The 740k/840k is 640 x 480. Sorry to break the bad news to you.

The 720K / 820K is called Toucam, the 730k / 830K is a Toucam Fun. Neither are suitable for astro use.
