Bravescope
Is there a reason there is so few astrophotos of Neptune? Poor little blue planet gets no attention!BB
Doc
Because there's not alot to photo I guess. Even with the best equipment you can see no detail, just a blue disk.I have seen it a few times visually and it looks like a large blue star, with high magnification about x300 I think I managed to resolve to a disk. russ
Yep, Doc has covered it really. Myself and Rob observed Neptune in 2008 with a Skymax 150 and even with 332x we could only see a tiny blue disk.
Bravescope
I find it so strange that we can get great pictures of galaxies millions of lightyears away but have trouble with something so close...BB
russ
Galaxies are massive in the sky relative to Neptune. The challenge is their low surface brightness. But that can be overcome with long exposures. Where as poor old Neptune requires a colossal magnication to overcome it's size issue and that's not easily overcome. Demonperformer
But galaxies are a lot larger than Neptune
