How will this SupaTrak Auto work?

Hey everyone,

I was just wondering, can any one tell me exactly how the Suptarak auto system works on the SW explorer 130p, i know on motorised EQ mounts it turns the axis to allow for the earths angle and view of the sky, however on the supatrak there is no eq part, only altazmuth, so how exactly does it track objects accurately?

any advice would be muchly appreciated!!

The Supatrak is an alt-az mount. It tracks by moving in an up/down, left/right motion rather than the arc of an equatorial mount. This is fine for visual use and planetary / lunar photography but becomes a problem with long exposure DSO photography.

It does work quite nicely - I owned one for a while. Does need to be set up properly but that's not too complicated as far as I remember. If you set it up properly it tracks well enough to do some basic webcam imaging of the moon and brighter planets.

Don't try and run it from batteries through - it eats them real fast !

Hi, I have the synscan az goto with my 130p and if the mounts set up well it will track well.
