Was it the ISS?

A very bright 'satellite type' object passed over head in a ESE direction at about 7:15 this evening as I was setting up my scope. It seemed a little slower than a regular satellite but very much brighter. I'm guessing it was the ISS, and if so, it's my first sighting.

Hope it's a good omen for a great night of observing!

Sounds like the ISS to me. You can check the timimgs for the ISS at the heavens-above website. Find your location from the database to see the next ten day period. The site is also useful for finding Iridium flares.

Went just about overhead of you at 7:10 to 7:15.

Path would have been about directly over Truro about 7:12.

After that it headed off over to Paris at a guess.

Much lower and initially SW to S path.

Times are for me so maybe a minute earlier for you and a minute longer. Guess you are about 51N and 6W.
