300d 350d or do I wait???for 1000d

I wont mod my camera as I want to use it for Astro and the rest.

I note the 350D has a max shutter of 30 secs. Can it be persuaded to keep its shutter open longer for Astro.

Same question for the 300D.

Yes using an easy to make serial shutter release cable if its attached to a computer or using a wired remote or better still a timer remote if it isnt... the 1000D can do any length bulb exposure over USB or using the same shutter release options as the 300/350D
