Saturn this Moroning

After the ISS pass through the 20x80s I turned to Saturn though the 114 Newt.

I'd collimated and checked the RDF earlier and moved the scope out side to cool down whilst I watched the ISS pass.

The first EP I tried was the "new" 40mm Kellner, which proved to be a nice, easy to focus widefeild lens and Saturns rings were obvious. Then a 20mm, which brought Saturn closer. With the 10mm I could see either a feint star or a moon. Pushing for 5mm was acceptable, although a tight focus was hard to gain and maintain, practice will improve this I hope.

Returning to the 10 and 20 mm EPs was best. 20mm giving a widefield of pale blue sky with the pink figure of Saturn standing so majestically and proud, his rings across body diagonally.

In the 10 mm no clear features, but the almost obviously a moon, companion.

Cleods then caused Saturn to fade.

I may go back to bed for a few hours.

Astronomy seems to benefit from jet-lag.
