storing my Telescope in my shed

hi all ive been storing my scope in my shed , is it normal for the bolts on the tripod to start rusting , im kinda worried because i dont want my kit ruined

if anyone could suggest anything or maybe if its normal for the bolts to start rusting

i would really appreciate it thankyou

I would clean and wipe with oily rag or put or some other form of rust protection.

If you can I would change all bolts/screws that you can remove, and replace these with the Stainless Steel equivalent, I think a company called "Stagonset" will have a full range of what you want.

If it's just rusty fasteners, then a quick spray with wd-40 will keep the tin worms at bay.

The air in a shed will be quite damp most of the time so rust is normal.

The scope will be better off covered to keep dust off, but use a porous cover such as an old bedsheet. Don't use a tarp as it will trap condensation. Then get a small de-humidifier from B & Q or similar. They don't consume much power and your corrosion problems will be over.

no wow thanks for ur advice i will certainly try my hardest to resolve the dreaded rust , yeah my shed cud be a little damp,
