Jupiter, Moon and Mercury Vapour

Recommended Posts

Great image Colin :). Was the image taken with the 18-55mm lens ?

Hi isuman,

The image was taken using a Canon EF 75-300mm zoom lens,

set to 140mm. I took as large a raw image as I could of the Moon and Jupiter, then using the same camera settings, shot a further two images of the centre sky and finally the foreground, making sure that I overlapped each image by at least 30% so that I could layer and finally blend the separate images together using Photoshop.

You need to take the images with minimum delay between shots, especially during early morning and twilight, because the light changes so rapidly.

A good, levelled, solid tripod is recommended when you use this technique.
