M78 and Barnards Loop

I did this one on the 3rd and 4th of Jan, four and three quarter hours of Ha and a mere 40m of Blue owing to clouds. I also managed to get the blue out of focus so it all needs re-doing. Shows promise for a mono version as well as colour.

FSQ 106/STL11000M in 15m subs.

Pretty time consuming I imagine, but what a spectacle it would be.

Crikey, that's is an eye opener. Never seen so much in Barnard's loop. Great to see it with M78. Great work Dennis, should be quite something when you have the rest of the data

thanks guys. I wonder why people keep frightening me with the word 'mosaic'? I could do another three to include the horse and belt stars but with the weather it will probably have to be Ha only.

I have never seen 'the loop' in such detail, its usually just a smudge, thats really showing it off to its best Dennis.

I'd forgotten this one was only in Ha. Here is the HaGB version, around seven hours.

When you have them side by side like that, its easy to see why the ha only images are so popular, the colour looks very nice, but the detail really gets swallowed up doesnt it. Except that the red colouration tends to show off the areas where there is a little Ha signal and help bring that out.
