The first TAL100R I had came with the hardwood tripod Rob's link takes you to.

It was pretty sturdy but in my opinion you would need to make a better spreader bar.

The original is just like three straps supporting a plastic plate to hold your EP's.

I think it would be easy enough to make a timber spreader bar. This would improve rigidity greatly.
