Geminid or Flare?

Having checked through my star trails that I did last week, I have got one pic that would sort of fit the rough location for seeing a geminide. Is this a flare or a meteor?

How can I tell the difference between meteors and flares?

It looks like a flare to me Martina... but it's hard to tell at the scale. If you get a faint lead in and lead out, I'd say a flare. What's the sub length on that image ? Meteorites typically have a very short blast, whereas a flare will go on for 20 or 30 seconds.

Ah cheers for that! In the zoomed in version it looks more like a fade-in, fade-out one, so I guess its a flare then. This is a 32 second sub (should have mentioned that earlier)
