horsehead nebula ?

Recommended Posts

I get the feeling it is a tough target from the UK. A friend in the US has seen it visually from a dark site with a 20" dob.

The horsehead is one of the DSO's that got me into the imaging side of the hobby!

Give it a try and keep trying, Dazraz. Some night when the transparency is above average you just might do it, and wouldn't that be a nice trophy to add to your signature! :headbang:

TBH, experience and patience seem to be more essential to seeing the Horsehead than aperture is. A friend of mine from the very transparent southwestern area of the US detected it with his 6" Newt, yet someone else who lives in the same area insisted for years that it was an impossible target because he couldn't see it with his 20" Dob. He finally saw it after looking more carefully. :D
