First go at M1

Yes, unmodded 1000d, SW LPF, Orion OAG. Polar alignment visually done (crudely!) by comparing indicated hour angle with star position on sighting circle. Never quite sure about exposure times. A 4m sub just shows the target as a faint smudge, but the light pollution & filter gives the sub a bright magenta tint. I could reduce the exposure time to reduce the LP, but I would then need more exposures to get the same light(?). 10x4m = 20x2m ?

Was thinking of investing in an Astronomik CLS clip filter for the camera, and maybe even having it modded. Perhaps that would help reduce the LP effects.

Thanks for your advice. I did have another go at processing.

I tried the advice about DSS settings first, but this seemed to give me a very bright (almost white) final image. Must have set something wrong.

I had another go by colour balancing each raw sub first with the Canon app, then sent it to DSS. Then applied a few PS levels & curves.

Will keep working on the PS magic!
