Crayford and 80mm ED

Recommended Posts

I've got a Celestron 80mmED (the type being sold cheap recently). Does anyone know which, if any, of the Crayfords fit this model by way of an upgrade over the sticky rack and pinion it came with?

Cheers

Richard

Hi Richard,

Unfortunately the inside diameter of your telescope tube is probably too small for the crayford focuser upgrades available. The smallest size available is to fit 86 mm. inside diameter, this is made by GSO, I think these need to be purchased from the USA. There is one by Antares available in the UK to fit 86.5 with the addition of an adapter skirt.

Regards,

Brian

Pulsar Optical still lists the right focuser, but you might want to call them first to check as the focuser is no longer shown on the Scopes'n'Skies website. You will still need to buy the adaptor from Agena in the US though.
