Some help needed with Moonlite Focuser !

Recommended Posts

Hi

I have a Moonlight Focuser for my Celestron C8N one of these. With standard 50mm travel tube.

Now before any session I usually do a polar alignment with a 3 star alignment, with the Universal base unit installed with also the 1" & 1/2" spacers fitted I was able to achieve a Visual focus on the alignment stars.

The problem lies when I use the focuser with a camera, from what I can Understand there seems to a lack of inward focus as I cannot focus onto anything in my fov.

Am I missing something ? Do I need to buy a 2" extension tube or something similiar ?

Any ideas ?

Cheers

Exactly the opposite if you cannot get enough inward focus, I presume your focuser came with a selection of spacers (big plastic square shims) you need to put on the thinnest and take it from there. I had the same problem with my SW250 and moonlight, i cured the DSLR being out of focus BUT if I want to use an eyepiece (rare these days) I have to use a empty barlow tube with the eyepiece.

Hope that makes sense ;)

It does make sense, apart from the universal base it came with a 1" & 1/2" spacers. As I said before the only reason I need to use an Eyepiece is that I do a 3 star alignment with a 26mm & 9.7mm & focussing/frame onto a object before imaging. I will try this again next time I get another clear night - I just need to find something similar to a barlow tube for my eyepiece focussing. Any Ideas ?

Cheers
