Another year, another postal strike!

We are monitoring the situation and will do whatever we can to minimise the effect on orders. In most instances we will switch postal deliveries to Fedex and, where practical, will absorb the additional cost.

As a non union member postie (dont hit me) I will try and keep you updated as to the situation.

As far as I know at the moment, talks are still going ahead, but a full on rolling strike is planned for 22nd oct.

From the limited info that we are told, due to "modernisation" the workload has almost doubled, overtime was being enforced (if you didnt do overtime then you lose a days pay) and due to restructure, jobs were going to be lost.

Thats it in a nutshell.

I am sure its more complex that that but this is the story we are told.

Please can i ask that we keep on topic and not veer off into a discussion on the whys and wherefores of the situation at Royal Mail as it will start to dilute the message from FLO ...ie that they are going to do all their best to keep their customers informed.
