narrowbandpaul
thats a very nice M33.its well known for being a low surface brightness galaxy because it is almost face on. Most images dont give that impression, but this gives the viewer the idea that its is quite diffuse. And you still have managed to get lots of spiral detail.so kudos to you, especially in the processingits not a good image for a first attempt....its good regardless of experiencewell donePaul
DAVPPK
Thanks, it was some of my grandads stuff, a Tak 90 ref. and a ccd (no brand name, prob. worn off!!) and the exposure was 10mins colour.Regards,Dave

Tim
That's very good Dave, you should look through the "Post your first DSO's" thread to see how bad some of ours were as first pictures. How did you work it, did you go to your grandads (lucky grandad with a Tak) and use his kit, or does it come to you?Is the camera a 12cm ish square thing with nobbly bits on the top? Probably a meade DSI if so. Did you do one ten minute image, or shorter ones and stack them?I have just come back from a star party, and even in the middle of a field with no guiding or anything, the guys were getting great shots of things like m31 Andromeda with their cameras. Did you use guiding for this one?it's great you started sharing images, please try to share the details of the equipment used and everything you can remember, its a real help to newcomers who might read these posts in many months time, long after you and we have forgotten what was what.CheersTJ
