Quick filter comparison between CLS and Ha

Recommended Posts

Just FYI

This evening I had street lighting but no stars to look at so it occured to me to find out what effect the filters in my box had on the scene.

First off, no filter, 15th Second shot iso 200 though the Newt. at prime focus

Then with the Ha filter, same settings

2.5S with the Ha

30S with the Ha

and finally 30S with the CLS filter

This shows how effective the CLS filter is at getting rid of much of the light pollution from the direction of Leeds, the Ha gets rid of almost everything as you would expect, there being not much Ha emmiting stuff in Leeds, but the CLS does a fabulous job. I think I can see some stars in the big version, though I couldn't see any visually.

The focus was OK for the unfiltered picture but I didn't bother even trying to refocus for the other ones.
