ED80 / WO FFIII

I have a revalation ED80 F6.9

I'm wondering if the William Optics - William Optics 0.8x Reducer / Flattener III would work OK with this scope.

I see that it's been designed to work with the WO72 and WO88 - what about the ED80...?

Any advice greatfully received!

This is 'similar' to the Skywatcher ED80 in terms of aperture and focal length and I use one quite successfully on my SW ED80. There is certainly a very real improvement in star shapes at the edges of the frame although on close inspection, these appear a little 'spiky' but I have heard other users describe the same effect. On balance, I am very pleased with mine and it was worth the money - beautifully manufactured!

I'd try and persuade Steve to let you try the Skywatcher Flattener... it looks a bargain if it "works" unless your after the increase in FOV as well... I might scrounge the Revelation one for a test ....

Theres a whole raft of new Flatteners and reducers out there now...

I want to try the Skywatcher/Revelation for the FOV decrease

The FF III is Quality kit... the Camera rotation is so smooth... I am sure Steve will sort you out... Sale or return or something

The Skywatcher field flattener is not well matched to the Evostar 80 ED and it is not a reducer (the Revelation appears to be from the same stable as the Skywatcher).

If you check out some of the images on Steve's website you will see the William Optics reducer III is a very good match.
