FLO
I have always understood these to be equal in every sense other than maximum payload.Am I right?
GazOC
As far as I know Steve they are the same. I'm pretty sure the motors are the same, not so sure about the gears, though I can't see why they would be different? The HEQ5 also comes with a smaller tripod. Tinkerbell
Use the same hand set but a slightly different connection to the mount on the EQ6. Oh and the EQ6 is about double the weight to lift onto the tripod.
Ambermile
Yup. They *look* the same until you (a) have to lift one up or ( see them next to each other Arthur
Jamie
As i understand it its not the build of a mount that dictates the maximum weightthat a mount can take but it IS the motors/gears/worm wheele to tracking/ timing ratio.I could be wrong but im sure thats how THEY work out the max payload. GazOC
I've seen figures from 20 kg to 25 kg quoted. I know they can take a 14" Newt pretty easily.....
