Hey folks, My new (to me) maksutov arrived on tuesday brought off Tony (legion48) of here. It's a Skywacher 150 Pro and looks absolutely gorgeous .

I got a chance to have a quick peek at Saturn with it earlier in the week and it gives some great views! I did find it has quite a lot of image shift (which at high powers (400x ish) meant saturn shot out of the FOV every time I focused it). Hmm how to solve this problem? Well hiding at the bottom of the box was a skywacher mak to SCT thread adapter - so I promptly ordered an SCT crayford focuser (courtesy of Bern at modern astronomy) - problem solved!

Which seems absolutely amazing considering it's price - lovely and smooth and looks great too! In fact I'd even say it feels smoother than the one on my Burgess Apo...

The only question now is will it come to focus with all that on the back?
