GOTO SYNSCAN APP AVAILABLE

Dear Users,

I have recently retired and wanted to focus on astronomy again.  I have an Orion EQ-G Atlas Mount with Synscan to guide an Explore Scientific AR152 Achromatic refractor.   Recently been online and was wondering if there is an Application available now that replaces the Synscan controller?  Is this application worthwhile to be used by an somewhat experienced novice or is it too advance for newer users in astronomy?

Do you mean the Synscan app ? Sky-Watcher | Sky-Watcher Global Website (skywatcher.com) available for windows, android and mac. The mount can also be controlled from any planetarium software that includes mount control ie Stellarium,  Cartes du Ciel (both free) plus many commercial options.

Hi, does you mount have wifi? If you currently use a synscan hand set but don't have wifi one option might be to get the synscan wifi dongle (if compatible with your mount). Then you can either control your mount by a mobile phone or computer using the synscan app. Plus opens up options to tie in a planetarium such as stellarium for example.
