[help] Issues with EQ6r guiding after hypertuning (tracking went worse!)

Recommended Posts

[this post is seeking advice from experienced EQ6r and PHD2 users]

Hi folks,

I'm new to DSO imaging after years of short-exposure imaging.

I recently hypertuned my eq6r by following Astrobloke's YT video, however, my mount went worse....from RMS 0.6 to RMS 0.8-1.3 now.

Not only the guiding went worse, I also failed to implement a PEC adjustment to the mount.  I tried to follow a YT video by Astrobloke and Joe on using EQMOD to measure the PEC error, but my curve is far from a sine-wave in any cycle= =

Using tools on PHD2, no DEC backlash is detected, and I don't feel any binding in DEC or RA.

I wonder if I can get any advice on what's the next step to do, before giving up?

    Thanks in advance!

PS.  I put a pic of my setup (with dolly removed) and the calibration and GA report here for reference.  I also uploaded the most recent PHD2 in case needed.

PPS.  I don't mind traveling 2hr from downtown, DC, if any kind users are willing to provide hands-on assistance

I don’t use PHD 2 but my gut reaction to reading this is l presume you have got your mount tracking in the Northern Hemisphere and or have done a guiding calibration before trying to guide?     Also done a good PA.

I don't see a problem if the stars in the subs are nice and round. I never worry about PHD graphs.

The graph looks horrendous because its set to +/- 2 degrees. Alter the update rate from 3.0 to 4.0 if the seeing is poor.

Use the stars in the subs as a guide to tracking performance
