Custom cover for 8" newt on pier?

Recommended Posts

I used to have a 130PDS on my pier with a heavy duty bbq cover which fitted perfectly.

But I changed the 130 for an 8" (same dimensions as 200PDS) and of course the cover is now way too small which forces me into ugly and only partly safe faffing with tarp.

I am enquiring to have a custom made cover but the quotes so far are eyewatering!

How did you guys sort this? Surely I am not the first one to come across that issue...

Maybe 🤔 but that still hurts a bit and if I was to take that road I'd have a better time buying directly the 8" newt/eq cover, which is barely more expensive. Of course it would not go all the way down but low enough I guess...

I am just a bit gutted that i had found a heavy duty bbq cover (perfect fit) for the 130pds for £20 and that the extra 3" is gonna cost me £200 😐

I have now bought a second one of these as they are VG quality and do a good job. They are waterproof and UV proof. I have one for my 12" dobsonian and another for my 102 Starfield on an EQ5 synscan. They have a zip and a bottom tie off.

I wince at some of the things people come up with to cover their scopes.  You have hundreds if not thousands of dollars sitting there and they complain about spending some money on a good waterproof tarp. If it were me i would go to my local farm store and buy a good waterproof tarp twice the size that i needed, double it over and cover it up.  Then use a nice strap to tie it into place
