MaCross
Having just bought the Skywatcher 100ED DS-PRO with a supplied 32mm eyepiece and a free 6,5 mm one I was wondering if it would make good sense to buy a barlow to go with it. As I am looking to get into astrophotography eventually I would hate to compromize on the image quality when using a barlow. Is there any recommendation on a good type you have? I was thinking of getting a APO one... any thoughts on that?Links would be top of the pops too CheersMartina
StarMan1701
Hi Martina,The Celestron 'Ultima' barlow is very highly regarded:http://firstlightoptics.com/proddetail.php?prod=cultimabarlow&cat=70as are the TeleVue 'Powermates':http://www.telescopehouse.com/acatalog/info_PMT_2513.htmlYou can't really go far wrong with either of these.I hope this helps.Lee. John
As Lee says the Celestron Ultima's are very good but also look out for the Orion Shorty Plus (must be the Plus version) because it's the same unit as the Ultima and can sometimes be picked up for less.I've also owned a Tele Vue Powermate 2.5x which was even better (but only just) than the Ultima but quite a lot more £'s.Neither of these would compromise your image quality IMHO.John
MaCross
Cheers Lee & John,I previously had looked at the Ultima, but the Orion shorty plus (love the name) might be an option now too BTW, I love it here, good advice in the blink of an eye :-)))Thanks!
