lukeyboy
My other half wants a webcam and i wanted to get one that could double up for use on my telescope.I have seen a toucam in use but i have been told they are outdated, i have also read on this forum that a phillips 900 nc is a great webcam for astonomy but i have found it impossible to find any for sale (been over a week of searching on net). Can anyone guide me on either where i can get a phillips 900nc or does anyone have another suggestion as a good dual purpose webcam. Thanks for any repliesLuke
jgs001
Luke, the problem I think you'll find is that a webcam for Astro use involves removing the lens cell and replacing it with an ep fitting. This makes it useless for normal usage. The only place I found was http://www.musikick.co.uk/Items/1597_638873Worth a check on ebay though. I believe the earlier toucam's can be flash upgraded to be the same as the SPC900.
MikeP
Hi Luke,The SPC900NC does require the lens cell to be unscrewed and replaced with an adapter but the process is easily reversed.Googling with SPC900 turned up this link http://www.musikick.co.uk/Items/1597_638873Mike

GazOC
If you are interested I have a Phillips SPC900 for sale, it has the eyepiece adaptor but not the original lens. ie. its now no use as a conventional webcam, just astronomy.

beetlejuice
Looks like Philips have discontinued the SPC900NC, so if you can find one, grab one.
