Observing over Edinburgh

Since Edinburgh's change to LEDs, I've noticed the view SSW from here towards the city centre has changed. No longer an orange glow in the sky, it's a white glow.

However, the observing targets in that direction are now much clearer. I can only assume that this white glow is not from the new streetlights (which are very effective in their downwards direction) but the remaining upwards light pollution from housing, shops, car parks, etc.  that is now obvious after the overpowering sodium-vapour lighting has gone.

Is there anyone reading this that observes over Edinburgh - like from the Fife coast? Is there an obvious difference for you?

I'm not anywhere near you, but I've had the same experience with led lights. They're much brighter (unnecessarily so) but the light is far better directed and the remaining glow is from other sources. I can definitely see more. I do wonder if the remaining glow is partly reflection of the led light.

Yeah I’ve noticed but naked eye it seems to have made the almost constant clouds appear brighter because they look white now instead of a duller orange. More annoying has been a random blue/white colour changing led /laser tight searchlight type beam that’s blinding & lights up the front bedroom when it strikes the window. I’m miles away from Edinburgh too on higher ground looking over to Fife.  It comes from direction of The High St. / Princess St.
