My Double OTA visual setup

Recommended Posts

My "visual and planetary imaging setup" which occasionally involves two tubes (Baby-Mu and FC100DL, two refractors, FC100DL + solar scope, etc).
The SXD2 balances everything well, but even if various accessories are still missing, its particular design seems to meet the need with only two small weights. Probably i will need some additional weight in the OTA, but for tthse purposes it work well.
At the moment there is a Hal130 which is the "domestic tripod for winter months", but the setup is normally completed with the Barleback UNI 18 wooden tripod, making it even more solid.
Waiting for the Rowan AZ100, more functional to my visual and planetary imaging needs, as the spark of long exposure astrophotography has never taken place in me (except for the fun of simple live staking)
In the photo, the FC100DL is devoid of its characteristic black focuser (produced only in 200 pieces worldwide) as i am installing the Takahashi MEF3 on it

Lovely scopes and great mount setup too 👍

You’ll love the AZ100 for visual/planetary, especially on the Uni18… super solid and smooth to operate with both scopes onboard.

This was my setup a few months back… Mewlon 180C and Takahashi FC-100DC. I’ve since sold the FC-100, but have a “replacement” arriving soon.

The MEF-3 is a good upgrade too. Great to see photos of yours upgraded when done 😃

Great setup @Fedele. That DL does look weird without the focuser! I’ve often wondered how a dual visual setup would be on an EQ mount. Is it convenient or awkward in certain positions? I have a GP-DX and dual plate so may give it a try sometime.

The AZ100 is an amazing mount though, and much more convenient I think. Sure you will enjoy it.

this!!!

So if i want a more large refractor ( and i want this).....this is the space that i can use in the house.
So I have to make some unpleasant choices sometimes

I thought you would have kept them in a temperature controlled, airtight glass cabinet with a UV lighting rig.

If you ditch the carrier bags and move the shelf, you've got enough room for a TSA 120 in there.😀
