127 SLT Tube weight only

  Hi folks  good evening  hope you all ok😀   just one question  what is the OTA weight only in Ibs  of the 127 slt from celestron  i have tried to find out from celestron but  just states  to be determined?  ??  thanks.

The Orion Apex (same telescope) is 8.6lbs.

My Celestron 127mm Mak OTA weighs in at 4.5Kg or 10 lbs, including finder.  The SLT mount is barely sufficient and quite wobbly.  A AZ4-2 or EQ-5 mount does a good job of mounting it stably.

 Hi Guys  thanks to all who replied with information   👍👍👍 very much appreciated!!  i was going to buy another OTA  (150) for that SLT mount but it weighed in at  14 Lbs!  too heavy for the gears and the extra  weight of cameras etc. 

celestron dont inform you of the maximum load capacity the mount can take.   I was looking at goto EQ mounts but  WOW !!    medium sized Mortgages!

If you are not interested in AP then you could buy a very sturdy AZ mount for much less.

The heaviest scope you cam put on a SLT mount is one like the 127Mak mentioned above, and that's for visual use.  I have done EVAA imaging with a smaller scope on a SLT mount but I had to be careful not to touch it or move a muscle while it was operating.  For a 150mm OTA of any description you really want a mount in the EQ3-2 class for visual or HEQ5 or EQ6 for serious imaging.  Yes they cost a lot but that's just how it is.  You do not need aperture for imaging, just expensive kit.

   I just went and bought a SK 72 ED pro with Field flattener and fittings  to fit my Canon  2000D as I cannot get enough of the images seen in astrophotography.   i am just going to use the 127 slt mount and swap  with the 127 for closer images of my Favourite  the Moon.  I'll  get heavy mount later, posssibly an EQ6 as I have just spent loads on equipment.  I still have the slt mount screwed to the slabs but it still vibrates if its accidently  touched by my foot.  its amazing how the vibration runs up to the fork arm and through the tube even when its screwed down, i even tried those  rubber absorption feet celestron  supply  absolute rubbish even on grass!
