CMOS Clean

Recommended Posts

Has anyone one any hints & tips for cleaning the sensor on a Skyris 132c? I've seen some good comments about sticky gel sticks..also some horror stories. Currently using an IPA wipe then a glasses cleaning cloth to finish off. Results are a bit hit & miss. TIA.

Why are you cleaning the sensor? I am not familiar with this device.  Is the sensor protected by a transparent window, or exposed?  If the former, the usual methods should work.  If the latter, you should be very careful and not touch the chip with anything other than a blast of pure air, or a very fine brush.

There's dust on the sensor so I'm attempting to clean it off. This is a new device so rather disappointing that it was dusty on delivery. The sensor is protected. Used an air can/IPA/Glasses cloth. It's minimal now but I feel I may be chasing my tail to achieve a no dust image.

Been there done that i feel your pain. Chasing your tail is exactly what happens. I use a microfibre cloth and Eclipse cleaning fluid. I found it has to be fairly wet to get the dust off. It is hit and miss. i managed to get it down to one tiny speck in the corner. But its around and around getting better and worse in intervals. Do you watch what happens on the laptop as your cleaning ?

Yeah, watch as cleaned. Just managed to get the CMOS dust free. I'd taken it into the workshop as we have a compressor & air guns. Bit of IPA, gentle touch of cotton bud, wipe with micro fibre cloth & a blast of air. Sorted. Will take a longer look at the Eclipse cleaning solution but looks pretty much perfect.

This is some sort of Voodoo Magic! Cleaned the front of my Nexstar 6 SLT and there was nothing. Then cleaned CMOS and it is literally spotless. Don't understand how this works but glad it does! Thanks again for the recommendation. It's just ridiculous how Mint the image is now.

ps. Can you tell me how I add a reputation point to your account or is that not a think here? Yeah I'm a NooB 😃
