  1. Long time lurker and absolutely love the hints and tips available. Live in Newport Pagnell. Have a Celestron 6slt/StarSense/WiFi adapter/Skyris 132c. Observe from garden so far but looking to get a powertank(don't think 8xAAA batteries would last long)so I can pop up the road a bit and get some better viewing.
  2. Quick question. Will a Bhatinov Mask work when attached to the end of a Dew Sheild with Nexstar 6slt. Want to try some imaging but taking the Dew Sheild off then putting it back on usually knackers everything. Thanks in advance.
  3. That looks really good! Cheers for recommendation.
  4. Hi, Looking for some advice when choosing a dew sheild or heater? I'm using a Celestron Nexstar 6slt and as winter is coming, I'm reckoning it's going to be an essential bit of kit. I've seen vids of homemade shields, they look great but I've got a budget of ~£50 so reckoning on buying one. Found this for example https://www.rothervalleyoptics.co.uk/celestron-c6c8-flexible-dew-shield.html Not been able to find a heater suitable yet. 5V USB heaters seem mainly for DSLR cameras Did think of heated sheild but its above my pay grade 😃 TIA Andy
  5. Note to self. When attempting to upgrade Celestron WiFi Module firmware, please switch the Telescope on. Just spent 20m wondering why CFM wasn't seeing my WiFi module but was ok with the Handset. 😃
  6. This is some sort of Voodoo Magic! Cleaned the front of my Nexstar 6 SLT and there was nothing. Then cleaned CMOS and it is literally spotless. Don't understand how this works but glad it does! Thanks again for the recommendation. It's just ridiculous how Mint the image is now. ps. Can you tell me how I add a reputation point to your account or is that not a think here? Yeah I'm a NooB 😃
  7. Oh my days! Just setting up for some hopefully clear skies & used the Eclipse cleaner to get rid of some stuff. I'm deffo hooked on this now! Many thanks for your recommendation.
  8. Eclipse cleaning fluid ordered. Thanks for the suggestion. Looks mint!
  9. Yeah Na. Just adding to the possibilities. Database is excellent, hopefully someone nearby can get some Dark Sky stuff. I'll be there just as soon as we have some clear skies.
  10. Very late to the party here, just joined SGL. Little Linford Woods looks ideal. There's a public footpath leading from Haversham High Street.
  11. Yeah, watch as cleaned. Just managed to get the CMOS dust free. I'd taken it into the workshop as we have a compressor & air guns. Bit of IPA, gentle touch of cotton bud, wipe with micro fibre cloth & a blast of air. Sorted. Will take a longer look at the Eclipse cleaning solution but looks pretty much perfect.
  12. There's dust on the sensor so I'm attempting to clean it off. This is a new device so rather disappointing that it was dusty on delivery. The sensor is protected. Used an air can/IPA/Glasses cloth. It's minimal now but I feel I may be chasing my tail to achieve a no dust image.
  13. Has anyone one any hints & tips for cleaning the sensor on a Skyris 132c? I've seen some good comments about sticky gel sticks..also some horror stories. Currently using an IPA wipe then a glasses cleaning cloth to finish off. Results are a bit hit & miss. TIA.
  14. I've been stalking this forum for some time now. Always read great advice. Now I've got a Nexstar 6 SLT after abandoning my Celestron C150HD Newtonian. Seems impossible to clean/service it. It's a bit of a jump in tech and still getting used to it. Managed to order a Celestron Skris 132C for a madly cheap price. Seems too good to be true but if it arrives I'm gonna be happy. Meanwhile here's a pic from my mobile. Taken 1st night I got the new kit and not really having a clue how it worked. I hadn't RTFM Edit: The camera arrived, only cost £120. I know it's end of line but for that price?
