ASCOM/EQMOD/MOUNT communication issue

I have an HEQ5 PRO mount, but am struggling the get it to communicate with the PC.

The latest ASCOM platform and EQMOD are installed, and I have an EQdirect cable with its inbuilt USB to Serial conversion 'chip set'.

The problem is that EQMOD is looking for a COM port that doesn't exist, albeit I assumed that the EQdirect cable was the solution to this.

In my previous imaging days, I used a PC with Serial (COM) ports, so its was never an issue. Now my PC has only USB ports, like most all modern PCs.

I am obviously missing something here, so your help/advice would be much appreciated.

what shows up in device manager under Ports e.g.

My mount is driven through Com4

I'll try and have a look at my setup and see how its arranged.

I think the problem might be that there are no FTDI drivers inststallled. I'm going to Google them, and if found, I'll download and install them, and let you know if it solves the problem.

It was a case of missing FTDI drivers.

Downloaded, installed, and now all working, and communicating with Cart du Ciel. 🙂
