July New Moon Spotting

It’s nearly time for my monthly New Moon spotting challenge. I use the term New Moon in its classical sense of one’s first sighting of the Moon after its monthly solar conjunction (Dark Moon). Sharp-eyed observers may attempt to spot the one-day-old Moon after sunset on Saturday, July 10^th.

 Photos and descriptions of the young crescent Moon this month would be welcome additions to this thread.

Taken from Baltimore, SW Ireland at 2309 tonight as Luna set between Mount Gabriel (lower slopes at far left) and Hungry Hill (the flat-top right half). Doesn't stand much close inspection but an object this low down and handheld gets quite tricky.

Lovely image. Almost like an abstract painting. 

There’s an interesting conjunction tonight with crescent Moon, Mars and Venus.

Very nice. I can’t make out Mars in your picture, but then again it was many time fainter than Venus. It was too cloudy here to see anything.

Nice image. I have always referred to the first sighting as a new moon. I know astronomically that isn't correct but I will go to my grave addressing it just so....

Beautiful photograph with a beautiful clear sky at dusk, the crescent moon is poetic. Once in a while that it is not raining here, it should be exploited!
