NGC 7023 - Iris Nebula.

Recommended Posts

Reflection nebula in Cepheus, about 1300 light years away.

The nights are getting shorter and I just managed to finish before twilight started this morning.

This was not easy to stretch without introducing noise. It could probably do with another 4 hours of exposure time to fully bring out the dust clouds.

50 x 300s with darks, flats and dark flats. Total exposure time 4 hours 10 minutes.

11" SCT at 1700mm, ASI294MC Pro and Optolong L-Pro filter.

Thanks for looking!

Tony.

Really great image. This will be on my 'to do' list when I get a chance.

I'm also jealous that you still have some dark skies. Mine are gone until August☹️

Thank you! Clear nights are in short supply here in Jersey too, so I'm trying to make the most of them.

The nebula is around all night and there's no meridian flip to worry about if you get the chance.
