Now that's a thing! A non-Perl speaker saying that a Perl script makes sense. Almost completely unheard of.

I do try to write readable code. The script in question is mildly embarrassing because it only tells you that you called it wrongly, not how to call it correctly. This is the first time I've made it available so I'll improve it before putting it on my web  page for others.

Don't get me wrong, the instruction syntax is as clear as mud. But I can see how most of the lines function. 

MS Basic and, later BBC Basic were as advanced as I ever got with coding but I find that reverse engineering existing scripts is a good way to learn new things.
