Enjoying Carbon Stars.

Recommended Posts

Thanks Nick.
I haven't looked for any carbon stars yet, I must admit I hadn't appreciate the attraction. But I will start putting some on my lists from now on.

For anyone unfamiliar with the Astronomical League, you can find details of their carbon stars programme here:

https://www.astroleague.org/content/carbon-star-observing-program

which also includes links to pdf and excel versions of the list (scroll to the bottom).

If you use SkySafari, there's a version in skylist format here:

https://www.skysafariastronomy.com/repositories/index.php?dir=skylist/Astronomical League&theme=onyx

(I haven't checked it against the AL list; sometimes user-contributed lists contain the odd error or omission)

[EDIT]: the skylist version is actually available directly in SkySafari ("import from online repository"). There's a folder for AL lists. The carbon stars list is 100 deep and the first and last two agree with the version on the web site.
